How to Fix Scratches on Leather Sofas
A leather sofa is an elegant addition to any living room furniture set. However, these particular sofas can be prone to scratches, especially if you have a small furry friend running around the house. If you have found scratches on your home sofa there is no need to panic; with the right supplies you can get the sofa looking like new. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Scissors
- Hobby knife
- 320-grit sandpaper
- Leather repair kit
- Leather coloring kit
- Alcohol-based cleanser
- Cloth

Cut any fibers protruding from the scratch with your scissors.

Cut any jagged leather ends off the sides of the scratch.

Wipe the scratched area down thoroughly with your 320-grit sandpaper. Do this until the surface is completely smooth.

Wipe the area down with a cloth dabbed in alcohol-based cleanser. Wait for 10 minutes, so the cleanser can evaporate.

Dip the end of the palette knife, that comes included in your leather repair kit, in the tub of filler and use the knife to spread the filler into the scratch. Wait five minutes for the filler to dry.

Sand the filler down with your sandpaper so the surface is smooth.

Apply a coat of leather color, using the sponge that comes with your coloring kit, to the scratch area. Allow the color to dry and repeat until the desired color is achieved.

Spray a thin coat of the included spray lacquer over the area to set the color.
