How to Delay Start a GE Oven

Even though there are times we want things to happen immediately in life, there are other times when some delay is desirable, even in the kitchen. While we may typically turn on an oven and expect immediate results, many ovens, such as those manufactured by GE, offer a delay start setting. This setting allows users to determine the cooking temperature and the time when the oven should start heating instead of beginning to warm up right away. Setting this feature on a GE oven only requires a few extra steps. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Press “Bake” and then the number pads to set the desired cooking temperature. Select “Upper Oven” or “Lower Oven” on double oven models, depending upon which oven is desired for the delay start.

    • 2

Touch “Cook Time” and the number pads to determine the length of time that the oven should remain on, such as “2” for two hours of cooking. Note that the clock must be correctly set on the oven display for this function to work properly.

    • 3

Select “Delay Start” and use the number pads to set the time of day when the oven should turn on and cook then press “Start.”

    • 4

Push “Warm” on applicable oven models if you want the food to be kept warm after cooking is complete. The warming feature will turn off automatically after three hours.

    • 5

Select “Clear/Off” at any time to cancel the delay start.
