DIY: How to Hang a Wedding Arch
If you want to have an arch for your wedding but want something different than the typical wooden or pole arch, a hanging arch could be your ideal solution. A hanging arch creates the same look of an arch above the heads of the bride and groom and provides a decorative background for the wedding vows and ceremony pictures, but it adds a unique twist. The hanging arch appears to hover above the bride and groom, for a whimsical and magical effect. The materials you use to create the arch itself can vary depending on the tone and theme of your wedding, though the construction process remains largely the same.
Things You'll Need

1
Hang at least three pieces of fishing line from the ceiling or from tree branches if you're outdoors. The lines should end at least two feet above the heads of those standing beneath it.
-
2
Tie the ends of the line into loops at least 4 inches wide. The middle loop should be slightly higher than the ones on either side. If you have an even number of lines and loops, such as six, the middle two lines should be the highest and the same height as each other. The two lines on the outside of the middle two should be slightly lower, with the ones on the ends the lowest.

3
Roll up a sheet of lace, long enough to hang through all of the suspended loops and trail onto the ground on either side, through the loops in the fishing line. The lace now forms an arch that appears to be hovering above the heads of the bride and groom.
-
4
Insert white string lights or flowered vines through the loops, either in addition to the lace or instead of the lace to add a different feel to the arch or enhance its look.
-
5
Hang electric candles or bouquets of flowers from the loops instead of the lace, lights and vines for a different effect. If you're hanging candles or flowers from the fishing lines, you may need to tie smaller loops at the end, depending on the size of the objects. Consider hanging the flowers upside down by tying the stems to the line for a whimsical touch.
