DIY Wedding Toasting Flutes

Turn plain toasting flutes into personalized ones.

Toasting with a pair of matching toasting flutes is a wedding tradition for the bride and groom. However, it can be challenging to find toasting flutes that incorporate your style and color scheme. One option that brides and grooms have is to create their own toasting flutes by decorating champagne glasses with embellishments that coordinate with the tone of the wedding. When it comes to decorating toasting flutes, keep in mind that you can decorate anything on the flute, from the cup to the stem.

Things You'll Need

• Ruler
• 24 gauge wire
• Wire cutters
• Champagne glass
• Assorted beads
• Glass pens
• Embellishments

Instructions

1. Cut a 5-inch piece of 24 gauge wire with wire cutters.

2. Wrap one end of the wire around the bottom stem of the toasting champagne glass. Circle the wire around the stem two or three times so that the wire is tight.

3. Thread assorted beads onto the open end of the wire. Coordinate the beads with the wedding color scheme. A black and white wedding should have black and white beads. Or, you can just stick with one solid color of beads. If you are having a themed wedding, such as a wedding by the sea, you might substitute beads with miniature craft seashells and string those onto the wire instead. Leave 1/2 inch of wire at the end.

4. Make a spiral up the stem of the glass so that the wire -- with the beads -- circles the stem. Wrap the 1/2 inch of wire that remains unbeaded around the top stem until the wire is secure. Tie a knot at the top with the wire, so that in case it ever comes loose, the beads do not fall off the wire.

5. Write on the cup of the champagne glass with glass pens to personalize it. Write the name of the bride and groom, or you can write "His" and "Hers" instead, along with the date of the wedding in smaller font at the bottom.

6. Add more embellishments to the toasting flutes, such as small white satin bows. Or, tie a short piece of white tulle around the stem and make it into a bow for the bride's toasting flute, with a black tulle bow for the groom's. Glue rhinestones to the toasting flutes, if you like the flashy look.
