Making a homemade gift for your next baby shower allows you to make a customized gift for the mother-to-be that is both practical and attractive. Washcloths are a necessity for parents to help clean between squirmy toes and behind little ears. Utilizing new washcloths and baby spoons, create your own washcloth lollipops. Add the completed lollipops to a wrapped package, insert them into a small flowerpot for display, or offer them as a party favor.

Instructions

  1. Rolled Washcloth

    • 1

Lay a washcloth flat on the work surface in front of you. Roll the washcloth from the side closest to you to the side farthest from you, keeping the roll tight, creating a rolled tube.

    • 2

Reposition the rolled tube so that the tube is aligned up and down. Roll the tube along the length to create a snail-like roll.

    • 3

Secure the roll by inserting a safety pin through the washcloth.

    • 4

Insert the snail-rolled washcloth into a small cellophane bag. Insert a baby spoon into the bag. Rest the bowl of the spoon against the back of the rolled washcloth.

    • 5

Gather the opening of the bag snuggly around the spoon’s handle, keeping the bag as tight as possible against the washcloth.

    • 6

Tie a 1/4-by-6-inch piece of ribbon around the spoon handle and bag to secure it.

    Folded Washcloth

    • 7

Place the washcloth on a flat surface. Fold the washcloth over 1/2-inch. Continue folding 1/2-inch until the washcloth is 1/2-inch wide. Repeat the step with a second washcloth in a coordinating color.

    • 8

Place the two folded washcloths on top of one another. Fold them in half.

    • 9

Insert the bowl of the spoon in the center of the folded washcloths.

    • 10

Tie a piece of 1/4-by-6-inch ribbon around the washcloths and spoon to secure them.

    • 11

Insert the lollipop into a small cellophane bag and secure the bag with a second piece of 1/4-by-6-inch ribbon.

Tips & Warnings

  • Fill a small terra cotta flowerpot with glass beads. Insert the ends of several lollipop washcloths into the beads to display them.

  • For thinner washcloths, roll two washcloths into tube shapes. Place the two tubes on top of one another before rolling them into a single snail shape.
