Skagen, a Danish watchmaker, produced wristwatches using a variety of materials including plastic, metal and even ceramic. Adjusting the bracelet of a ceramic watch requires only the most rudimentary tools and does not require a visit to your local watch repair shop. This adjustment will make it more comfortable, will make reading the time easier and will prevent it from being lost or damaged. Instructions

    • 1

Push out the two retaining pins that hold one of the links in place. These are located in two small holes in the side edge of the link. Push each out until it protrudes from the other side.

    • 2

Pull out the pins from the side opposite the push pin and set them aside. The link should now drop out of the bracelet which will now be open. Be careful to also retain the small tube that sits inside the hole the pin occupied as a bushing.

    • 3

Place the matching link holes of the bracelet over each other and align the holes. Take one of the push pins removed and push it through the holes re-securing the bracelet of the watch. Use the back of the push pin to push the pin into the bracelet until it is flush with the edge.

    • 4

Put on the watch and check for comfort; if further links need to be removed take off the watch and remove a link from the other side of the clasp and test again.

Tips & Warnings

  • Determine the number of links you would like to remove by putting on the watch and pinching the links together. It is better to start by removing one link, then adjusting further if necessary. Also make a note of which side of the clasp you would like to remove links from based on comfort.

  • Keep the removed link and retaining pin together in a safe place in case needed later on.
