      Unplug the Hotpoint refrigerator prior to cleaning and remove items from the refrigerator shelves and bins. Store food items in a cooler or another refrigerator if easily perishable.

      Combine 1 tablespoon. baking soda with 1 quart lukewarm water. Dip a soft cleaning sponge into the cleaning mixture and use the sponge to clean the walls and surfaces of the refrigerator.

      Wipe the interior with a clean, damp cloth and then follow with a dry cloth to remove excess moisture.

      Place food items back into the refrigerator.

      Clean the door gasket with a damp cloth and then dry before applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the gasket. This helps the gasket keep shape.

      Dip a clean cloth into warm, soapy water and use the cloth to wipe down the refrigerator exterior, including the door handles and trim.
