How to Make Your Strapless Dress Not Fall

How to Make Your Strapless Dress Not Fall thumbnail
Strapless dresses feature different necklines.

Strapless dresses are highly fashionable, especially for bridal gowns. These necklines tend to flatter women with an hourglass shape, full bust or broad shoulders. However, on many figures, strapless dresses tend to fall down, exposing the chest and ruining the appearance of the dress. To prevent your strapless dress from falling down, take precautions to ensure a proper fit and to support your bust.

Instructions

    • 1

Wear a well-fitting, padded strapless bra to provide support and hold your bust up. Alternatively, wear a full bustier or corset, which will provide support while also improving your shape.

    • 2

Have a professional tailor adjust the upper portion of the dress so that it is well fitted. Take in the dress around the bust so that it is snug, but not suffocating.

    • 3

Have a professional tailor adjust the waist of the dress. If the waist is snug, the upper part of the dress is less likely to slide down.

    • 4

Add structure to the neckline. For instance, add elastic or boning, which will make the dress top stiffer.

    • 5

Use fashion tape, which is double-sided adhesive. Cut strips of fashion tape and place along the inside edges of the dress top. If the dress is curved, such as a sweetheart neckline, cut smaller strips to accommodate curves and contours along the edge. Put on the dress and press tape against your skin. Tape sticks best to clean, dry skin.

Maintain good posture while in the dress. Keep your back straight and your shoulders back. Avoid slouching, which may cause the dress to slip at the bust.
