Instructions

Pick the two shades you want to combine. Before you start combining liquid foundations, test both of them on your face. Apply a dime-sized amount of both foundation colors on your cheek. Place each dot side by side. Let the dots dry completely. This gives you the chance to see where your skin falls between the two colors. Leave the dots on your face for future reference during mixing.

Squeeze a pea-sized amount of each foundation onto a clean plate. Mix the two foundations together with a plastic makeup applicator. Thoroughly blend the foundations together. Apply a dot of foundation to your face. Put the dot next to the other two foundation dots. Let it dry and compare the colors.

Adjust the color of your custom foundation by adding more of one foundation and less of the other foundation. Continue adjusting the color until you reach the desired shade. Write down the amount of each foundation you use after each mixing. Try each color on your face before you start making more test mixes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Mix your foundations together in small amounts. You do not want to use all of your foundation and not have the correct color. If you want to mix a larger amount and store it away, make just enough to put in a small, air tight container. Store the container in a cool, dry place.

  • You can also mix your powder and stick foundations to adjust the colors. Use a small amount of each foundation each time you mix. Test each mix on your face before you make more.

  • To make liquid foundation darker, add a darker powder foundation. Break up the powder foundation and add a little at a time to your liquid foundation until you reach the desired color.

  • Avoid putting your fingers in your makeup. Instead, use applicators. This helps keep bacteria out of your makeup.

  • Do not mix water into your liquid foundation. Water can introduce bacteria into your makeup and ruin it.
