DIY Toothbrush Holder With Polymer Clay
When you want to expand your craft knowledge with clay, polymer clay is the just the thing. The pliability of this clay makes it easy to mold into a variety of shapes. One simple craft to make with polymer clay is a toothbrush holder. Use handy household items to mold the clay into the preferred shape and bake to harden the clay.
Things You'll Need

- Rolling pin
- Cardboard toilet paper roll
- Craft knife
- Ruler
- Aluminum foil
- Baking sheet
Instructions

1
Place a sheet of parchment paper on a flat work surface. Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F.
-
2
Knead the polymer clay with your hands to warm it. This makes it easier to work with.
-
-
3
Roll out the clay on the parchment paper. Use a rolling pin to flatten the clay to 1/2 inch thick.
-
4
Set the toilet paper roll onto the clay. Place the roll in the upper left hand corner 1 inch from the left edge.
-
5
Cover the toilet paper roll by rolling the clay over the roll. Smooth the clay with your fingers as you roll it. Once you cover the entire length of the roll, cut away excess clay with the craft knife.
-
6
Smooth the clay over one end. Mold it flat and cover it completely with clay. Smooth out the area with your fingers.
-
7
Cut the clay on the other end with the craft knife so it is flush with the circumference of that end. Pull the cardboard roll out gently.
-
8
Use excess clay and cover the open end of the roll. Work the piece of clay gently to mold it evenly to the length of clay-covered roll. Smooth the top out with your hands to create a slight dome shape.
-
9
Cut two circles in the dome-shaped end that have a 1/4-inch diameter. Smooth the edges inside the circles with your fingers. The holes need to be wide enough to fit your toothbrushes.
-
10
Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Set the clay toothbrush holder in the center of the sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Check the hardness and bake for an additional five minutes if needed.
