How to Add a Link to a Web Page Using Netscape Composer

Links are what make the Web a web. Add a link to another Web page using Netscape Composer, a free, simple Web design program included in the Netscape Communicator package.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Netscape Composer
  1. Step 1

    Start Composer and choose Open from the File menu. Locate the page you want and double-click to open it.

  2. Step 2

    Position the cursor where the link will appear.

  3. Step 3

    From the File menu, choose Insert and select Link.

  4. Step 4

    Enter the text to be displayed for the link. For example, the text might read: "Click here!"

  5. Step 5

    Type the location (URL) of the link. If the link is in the same page, select the target link from the box. Click OK.

  6. Step 6

    If the Web page being linked to is on your hard disk, click on the Browse button and locate the page. Select any target links from the box, if desired.

  7. Step 7

    Save the file and click on the Preview button to view it in the Netscape Navigator browser.

  8. Step 8

    Connect to the Internet and click on the link to make sure it leads to the correct address.

Tips & Warnings
  • Type the entire URL as it appears in your Web browser. Don't forget the http:// and other backslashes. Copy and paste it to avoid errors.
