How to Embed Flash Into Yahoo! Sitebuilder

With the Yahoo! SiteBuilder application and Web-hosting service, you can embed a Flash object directly in your Web page so that visitors can play video clips or use interactive features without having to click a hotlink to access the Flash file.

Instructions

    • 1

      Launch Yahoo! SiteBuilder.

    • 2

Click “Start” on the computer’s desktop taskbar. Select “Computer” from the Start menu. Go to the folder that contains the Flash file that you want to add to your Web page.

    • 3

Click and highlight the file. Drag the file from the folder and drop it onto your preferred folder in the Site Contents pane on the right-hand side of the Yahoo! SiteBuilder program window. This adds the Flash file to your website.

    • 4

Click the yellow “Publish” button in the main menu bar. Select “Only Publish Modified Files” from the drop-down list. This uploads the Flash file to the Yahoo! SiteBuilder server that hosts your website.

    • 5

Write down the URL Web address for the uploaded file. The URL is your site’s domain name, followed by the name of the folder to which you added the file and the file name; for example, “www.mywebsite.com/files/flashobject.swf.”

    • 6

In Yahoo! SiteBuilder, select the “File” menu. Open the Web page on which you want to embed the Flash object. Click “Insert” in the main menu, then click “Code Elements” followed by “IFrame” from the context menus.

    • 7

Click “Another Web Site” in the IFrame Properties menu. Type the URL Web address that you wrote down in Step 5 into the URL input field. Click the “OK” button to add the iFrame containing the Flash object to your website.

    • 8

Click and highlight the iFrame to resize it and drag it to your preferred position on the page. Click the “Publish” button to update your website with the edited page.

Tips & Warnings

  • In Step 3, create a new website folder for storing your Flash file by right-clicking anywhere in the Site Content pane and selecting “Create New Folder.”
