In the "Pokemon" games, Pikachu is an Electric-type Pokemon that excels in speed. While Pikachu has its share of elemental weaknesses, it is resistant to Steel-, Flying- and Electric-type attacks. In addition, you can give Pikachu an extra boost in power by evolving it into Raichu, a larger Pokemon with similar abilities. In "Pokemon Crystal," there are two ways to obtain this Electric-type creature.
Wild Pikachu
Play through the game’s storyline until you arrive in the Kanto region. You can access the area after you defeat the Johto region Gym Leaders, the Elite Four and the Pokemon Champion.
Travel to Route 2, which sits between Viridian City and Pewter City in western Kanto.
Walk through the area’s tall grass until you encounter a wild Pikachu.
Weaken Pikachu with attacks, but don't knock it out. It is most vulnerable to Ground-type attacks.
Throw a Poke Ball to capture Pikachu.
Prize Pikachu
Travel to Celadon City in central Kanto.
Enter the Game Corner in the center of the city.
Play the slot machine games until you earn 2,222 coins.
Walk next door to the prize exchange building.
Purchase a Pikachu in exchange for your collected coins.
Tips
Purchase a Thunder Stone from the Celadon City Department Store. This item will evolve your Pikachu into a Raichu.
