Troubleshooting a DeLonghi DCU72
The DeLonghi DCU72 is a coffee urn with an adjustable thermostat and a coffee level indicator that makes between 20 and 60 cups of coffee. DeLonghi recommends using percolator ground coffee with the urn and plugging it into a 120-volt AC wall outlet for proper function and power, respectively. If problems occur with the coffee urn, most users will find that troubleshooting efforts can resolve the issue without the need for professional service. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Do not overfill the coffee urn if water leaks out of the dispenser or from the top lid. Refer to the markings inside the urn to determine how much water to use.
-
2
Dampen the coffee basket slightly before placing the paper water filter inside if grounds or particles brew through with the coffee. Always use a paper coffee filter in the basket; never place ground coffee directly into the basket. Once the paper filter is in place, add percolator ground coffee to the basket. DeLonghi recommends using 1 cup of ground coffee for every 20 cups of coffee, with an increase of 1/2-cup for every additional 10 cups.

3
Adjust the thermostat to a warmer temperature if the coffee seems too cold or to a cooler setting if the coffee is too hot. The temperature can be adjusted at any time during the brewing or heating process.
-
4
Unplug the coffee urn if the “Freshness Indicator” lights have all gone out and there is still coffee in the urn. Plug the urn back into the wall outlet to reheat the coffee but only if there are more than 20 cups of coffee in the urn, which can be determined by lifting the lid and looking at the markings inside the urn.
-
5
Use a wooden toothpick to clean out any coffee grounds from inside the pump tube, during cleaning, if water alone does not remove the grounds. Always wait for the urn to cool completely before disassembling or cleaning the unit.
