How to Make Square Tie Pillows
Kids' rooms, playrooms and family rooms can all benefit from having extra pillows, both on the furniture and on the floor. They should be colorful, fit in with the tastes of the occupants and be simple to care for. Square tie pillows in cozy fleece fabric fit this list completely. Cut out the fabric and allow your children to help to construct these cushions. If they can tie a knot, they can complete this project on their own, creating their own bedroom decor or gifts for friends and family. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Cut out two squares of fleece fabric that measure 20 inches across. Cut out one square of cardboard that measures 4 inches across.
-
2
Lay a fabric square on the work table in front of you. Place the cardboard square directly on top of one of the corners of the fabric and trace around it with a marker. Repeat this with the other three corners. Cut out along the marker lines, removing all four corners from the fabric. Repeat this on the other fabric square.
-
-
3
Cut slits in the fabric along all four edges, from the edge toward the center, cutting in 4 inches. Make a cut every half-inch. This will create a 4-inch fringe on all four sides of the fabric square. Do this with both of the pieces of fleece.
-
4
Place one fringed square on the work table with the right side facing down. Place the other fringed square on top of the first, with the right side facing up.
-
5
Grasp the first fringe pieces from the bottom edge on the right side, grasping both the piece from the bottom fabric and the piece from the top one. Tie the two fringe strands together with a square knot. Make the knot right up against the end of the strands where they touch the uncut square in the center.
-
6
Move on to the next pair of fringe strands and tie them together in a square knot. Continue tying pairs of strands until you complete three sides of the square.
-
7
Slide a 12-inch pillow form into the pillow cover through the fourth, untied side. Tie the fringe strands on the fourth edge, enclosing the pillow form.
