How to Create a Web Page Using Netscape Composer

Create a Web page using Netscape Composer, a free WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor included in the Netscape Communicator package.

Things You'll Need:

  • Netscape Composer
  1. Step 1

    Start Netscape Composer and select New from the File menu.

  2. Step 2

    Choose Blank Page to create a page from scratch. Choose Template to create a page based on an existing page or template. Select Page Wizard for detailed, step-by-step instructions.

  3. Step 3

    Follow the directions for Template or Page Wizard. If you chose a blank page, use the toolbar or menu commands to insert elements into the Web page.

  4. Step 4

    Format the Web page properties by choosing Page Colors and Properties from the Format menu.

  5. Step 5

    Choose Save from the File menu to save the completed page. Enter the title of the page if you haven't already named it in the properties. Click OK.

  6. Step 6

    Click on the Preview button on the toolbar to view the page in the Netscape Navigator browser.

Tips & Warnings
  • Download templates from Netscape's Web Page Templates page.
  • Once you have created a Web page you like, you can use it as the basis for other pages. Simply choose Template and locate the Web page when creating a new page. So you might want to create a blank page with all the background elements for your site first, then use that as the basis for additional pages.
