Welcome notes add a human element to the task of rote fundraising.

The Facebook Causes app lets Facebook users and other people run fundraising campaigns for charitable and nonprofit purposes. When you start a cause, you can upload a cause logo, describe the mission and goals of the cause, encourage supporters to get involved, and raise money. You can also write a static welcome message that automatically displays for new supporters to see. You can edit your cause welcome note at any time by visiting the cause admin center.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to Facebook, type "Causes" in the search box at the top of the page and click the link when it appears below. This displays the homepage of the Facebook Causes app.

    • 2

Hover your mouse over the "Causes" tab in the Causes menu bar and click "Your Causes" when it appears below. Locate your cause in the list and click "Admin Center" to its right.

    • 3

Click the "Welcome Note" tab in the left sidebar of your Causes admin center. This opens the welcome note composition page.

    • 4

Click "Add a Photo From the Web" or "Add a Photo From Your Computer" to add an image to the welcome note, and then click the "Add" button. This step is optional.

    • 5

Type or paste the URL of a video in the box labeled "Add a Video," if desired. Click the adjacent "Preview" button to verify that the video plays properly.

    • 6

Type the welcome note in the "Message" field and click the "Update Note" button to the right. New supporters will see this note when they join your cause.

Tips & Warnings

  • Time your welcome notes so that they appear soon after receiving new supporters. Keep an eye on your cause page "Likes." If the number of likes increases, you have new supporters to welcome.
