How to Make Money Reselling Children's Clothing
A children's clothing business benefits from the fact that kids are always growing and always seem to need new clothes. Selling gently used clothing is an ideal way to get into the business because there are many clothes available and they are often in good condition. Buy clothing in bulk, go through it, clean it and resell it to start a lucrative business.

1
Find out what styles and brands of children's clothing are popular and selling well. Look through stores and boutiques and check out auction sites. This will give you an idea of the type of clothing you should focus on acquiring.
-
2
Acquire a starting inventory. Go to thrift stores and yard sales and look online and in the classifieds for those giving away or selling clothes inexpensively. Make sure each piece you buy is in good condition. Stains and tears are often hard to fix, making such pieces harder to resell.

3
Go through each piece you have and note the size and brand on a tag or note card. Clean each piece and iron it if necessary.
-
4
Price each item. If the item is new with tags still on it, you can get close to the retail price. If it's an item you bought used, mark it up higher than what you paid for it but less than a person would pay at a retail store. If you bought the item new but your child has worn it, give it a price consistent with its condition and style. A winter coat is going to command a much higher price, for example, than a rugby shirt.
-
5
Place the items on hangers and sell them at a local consignment shop or hold a yard sale.
-
6
Take a picture of each piece and sell it online through an auction or classified ad website.
-
7
Promote the items you have for sale through social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter. If you are having a yard sale, use social media to let everyone know about the sale and what type of items are available.
