How to Check to See If Your PS3 Blu-ray Player Works
Since beating out the HD DVD standard, Blu-ray has become the HD format of choice for movies. The PlayStation 3 has a built in Blu-ray disc player that allows it to easily read and play back movies, in addition to its usual purpose as a gaming system. It is relatively easy to determine if the Blu-ray player on your PS3 works correctly.
Instructions

1
Rent, purchase or borrow a movie on Blu-Ray. It does not matter what movie you get.
-
2
Turn on your PlayStation 3 and insert the Blu-ray disc. Make sure you don't have any other discs in the drive first or you will not be able to insert the movie.
-
-
3
Press the "PS" button in the center of your controller to turn it on, if you haven't already, and scroll to the left to reach the "Video" menu.
-
4
Scroll down until you reach the Blu-ray icon, and press "X" to select it. If your PlayStation 3's Blu-Ray player is working, it should read the disc and bring you to the Blu-ray's menu.
