Swap friendship bracelets with your BFF.

A friendship bracelet might contain a variety of different materials, including plastic lacing, embroidery thread and beads. Although many friendship bracelets simply tie around the wrist, if you have jewelry making supplies, you can easily insert a clasp onto a friendship bracelet to finish your jewelry piece in beautiful style, all within a minute or two. Once you finish, your bracelet will exude an exceptional style.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the jump ring with two needle-nose pliers and move the pliers in opposite directions to open the jump ring. Repeat the same process with the second jump ring.

    • 2

Insert one open jump ring through each end of the friendship bracelet. Depending on the style of the bracelet, this might be a knot of threads or it might be woven plastic lacing.

    • 3

Separate the two halves of the jewelry clasp. Place the loop of each half of the clasp onto each open jump ring.

    • 4

Move the open ends of the metal back so they align precisely to close each jump ring using the needle-nose pliers.

    • 5

Coat the ends of the knotted threads with fabric sealant to prevent the knots from fraying, if applicable.

Tips & Warnings

  • Part of the appeal of friendship bracelets is tying them on your wrist. When you exchange friendship bracelets with a friend, by tying them onto your wrists permanently, it can be a symbol of your permanent friendship. Although a clasp detracts from this symbolism, it can be appealing in some circumstances.
