How to Make a Popsicle Hair Clip
Hair accessories add pizazz to a little girl's 'do, but certain types of accessories are more in style than others. The Popsicle hair clip is an example of one such hair accessory that combines actual Popsicle sticks with fabric to create a decorative piece for the hair. If someone you know loves Popsicles, a Popsicle hair clip makes a suitable gift. You can also prepare a craft activity for a birthday party to make these hair accessories.

1
Cut one Popsicle stick in half with scissors. Line up the Popsicle sticks side by side so the rounded ends are at the bottom. The flat ends, which were cut, are at the top.
-
2
Apply a thin line of hot glue from a hot glue gun in between the Popsicle sticks. Press the Popsicle sticks together so they're connected.

3
Draw the design of the hair clip onto the piece of craft foam using a pencil. The foam design can be in the shape of the Popsicle sticks or something completely different, such as a large heart, star, cloud or flower. One necessity is that the design is large enough to cover the width of both Popsicle sticks side by side.

4
Cut out the foam design with scissors. Flip over the design. Add a few drops of hot glue from the hot glue gun to the back of the foam design. Press the glue down onto the Popsicle sticks so the design covers the top half portion of the sticks. Leave the bottom portion -- the rounded ends -- of the Popsicle sticks visible.
-
5
Glue the back side of the Popsicle sticks to the hair clip. Let it dry.
-
6
Embellish the foam design with decorative accents, such as glitter glue, fabric pom-poms or more layers of craft foam in different colors.
