How to Make Sure Your Mascara Doesn't Clump
Long, thick, flawless eyelashes are easy to achieve with mascara. However, your lashes also must be defined, separated and free of clumps, which is a bit more difficult. Some mascaras are specially formulated to reduce clumping and separate the lashes. You might have a favorite brand of mascara that you are reluctant to switch from, though. There are tricks for applying your old standby in a way that still leaves your lashes beautiful and clump-free. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Makeup removing wipe or face wash
- Disposable mascara wand
- Mascara
- Tissue

Remove all mascara from your lashes. This can be done with a makeup-removing wipe or by washing your face with a makeup-removing face wash. Dry your eyes and eyelashes completely before applying mascara.

Run a clean disposable mascara wand through your eyelashes to separate them.

Pull the mascara wand out of the tube of mascara and wipe any visible clumps off of it with a tissue.

Place the wand at the roots of your eyelashes. Move the wand toward the ends, using a zigzag motion. This separates the lashes as you apply the mascara, and also applies the color evenly.

Examine your lashes after you’ve finished applying the mascara. If there are any clumps, use your mascara wand to remove them.
