Downloading Flash for the Nook
Barnes and Noble added native Flash support for its Nook Color e-reader starting with the 1.2 system update and later updates. The Nook Color update is available directly through the Barnes and Noble website, so if you don't receive an over-the-air prompt for your update, you can manually apply it. The 1.2 update also adds in a Barnes and Noble app store and many system improvements, since this update uses Android 2.2 Froyo as its base. Barnes and Noble's Nook Color 1.3 update was released in August 2011 and adds "Time" magazine and interactive Nook books in addition to the Android Froyo and Flash support added in 1.2. Flash support is only available for the Nook Color and is used for the e-reader's Web browser.

Connect the Nook to your computer's USB port with its data cable. Wait for the Nook to boot and your computer to recognize the e-reader. Check the Nook's battery charge before you begin the software update. Barnes and Noble recommends that the Nook have a charge of at least 20 percent before beginning this process. You may corrupt your Nook's firmware, a problem called bricking, and render it unusable if your Nook loses charge while the update is being applied.

4
Click "Start." Click "Computer." Drag and drop the Nook software update file, nookcolor_1_3_update.zip, to the "MyNookColor" drive located under the removable media section in the Computer window's drive list. Disconnect the Nook from your computer and wait a few minutes. Your Nook installs the software update while it is in Sleep mode, so do not use the device until the installation applies. When the Nook restarts, the update is completely installed and you now have Flash support on the device.
