How to Make Flash Drive Discoverable on PS3

How to Make Flash Drive Discoverable on PS3 thumbnail
Sony PS3s can read information off FAT32 flash drives.

The Sony PS3 does not accept all types of file systems. Case in point is the native "Windows" file system NTFS. Most flash drives are formatted in NTFS, but if they want to be used on a Sony PlayStation 3, they must be formatted in "FAT32." FAT32 flash drives can be used to save PS3 game data.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the USB flash drive into the computer.

    • 2

Click the "Cancel" button when the "Autorun" window comes up.

    • 3

Right-click the USB flash drive icon on the computer's desktop and click "Format."

    • 4

Click the "File System" option and click "FAT32" as the flash drive file system. Click "Format" to complete the procedure.

    • 5

Unplug the flash drive from the computer and insert it into the PS3. Turn the PS3 on, and it now should recognize the flash drive.
