How to Display Hair Sticks
Styling your hair with sticks offers a convenient way to get your hair off your neck and face and add an artistic allure to your hairstyle. Sticks are also part of the allure as they can be playful and casual in the form of a pair of coloring pencils or classy and elegant like ornately designed sticks fabricated from jade. While there are a variety of ways to use hair sticks, the classic approach displays them as a "X" while styling your hair in a bun, a hairstyle known as "Classic Chignon." Does this Spark an idea?

1
Comb your hair through to eliminate tangles or knots and then pull your hair into a ponytail. Place a clip on your ponytail nearer the base of your head to hold it in place, if desired.
-
2
Grab the bottom of your ponytail firmly and twist it counterclockwise or clockwise, your preference. Continue twisting in the same direction you started until the ponytail begins to coil upward.
-

3
Remove the hair clip while you hold the ponytail. Next, wrap the ponytail around itself as close to the back of your head as possible. Hold the bun in place as you tuck the end tip of the ponytail in a fold of the bun.
-
4
Hold the bun as you insert the thinnest tip of a hair stick toward the center of the bun at a 45-degree angle. Angle the tip of the stick toward your head, carefully sliding it against your scalp to weave in locks of hair. Angle the stick away from your head, through the middle of the bun until the stick clears the bun.

5
Repeat Step 5, but insert the hair stick from the opposite direction at a similar angle. Make the second stick cross the bun very near the first so that the two sticks make an "X" shape.
