1
Collect an assortment of clear glass vases, bottles and jars in different sizes and shapes. You'll create groupings of three different glass containers as your table centerpieces.
-
2
Find small flags, pinwheels and single-stemmed silk flowers in red, white and blue. Craft stores and party supply stores have assorted sizes of flags and pinwheels. Craft stores carry many types of silk flowers.
-
-
3
Cluster the three containers and arrange the flags, pinwheels and flowers in the three glass containers. Add height by using a taller stemmed flower. Incorporate a short-stemmed flower for diversity within heights. Once you find an arrangement that you like, remove the items from the containers. Make a note of your arrangement on paper, if needed.
-
4
Purchase red, white and blue sand. You will need at least one bag of each color to fill one set of three vases. Colored craft sand is available in craft stores.
-
5
Pour blue sand into the bottom of each jar, about one-third of the way to the top. Gently shake the container to level the sand.
-
6
Pour white sand on top of the blue, another one-third of the height of the container. Level the sand, being careful not to shake too hard and disturb the two layers.
-
7
Pour a final layer of red sand on top, creating three evenly spaced rows of sand. As an alternative, use only two colors in each, adding red and white, blue and white or blue and red sand to each of the three containers.
-
8
Rearrange the flags, pinwheels and flowers, according to your original arrangement, poking them into the centers of the sand to anchor them.
-
9
Cluster the three glass containers in the center of your table.

Tips & Warnings
Use paper shreds to fill the glass containers. Place a piece of craft foam in the bottom of wide containers to anchor your decorations and then fill with the colorful, shredded paper.
Purchase red, white and blue half marbles instead of the sand, if preferred, for the glass containers. The necks of the containers must be wide enough to accommodate the marbles.
As an alternative to three glass containers, use one red, white or blue casserole dish or bowl. Place a craft foam block in the bowl, fill with coordinating paper shreds and place a single flag and pinwheel along with a few red, white and blue flowers in the container.
Make your own Fourth of July pinwheels using double-sided scrapbooking papers in red, white and blue designs.
