How to Make Names in a Plastic Mesh Canvas
Plastic canvas is a plastic mesh that comes in a variety of colors. It can be cut to any shape or size to accommodate craft patterns. It is used commonly to make tissue box covers, wall decor, trinket boxes and more. You can stitch your name into the plastic canvas mesh with yarn and a plastic canvas needle to use as a decoration or bookmark. This is something children and adults can make.

1
Draw your name pattern on graph paper with a pencil. This will give you an idea of what shape and size you will need to cut out of a plastic canvas sheet.
-
2
Cut out your name shape with the scissors according to your pattern you've drawn.
-
-
3
Cut a long strand of yarn of the color of your choice. The length on the yarn depends on how much of that color you will be stitching with. Thread the plastic canvas needle with the yarn.
-
4
Hold the tail end of your yarn strand with your finger onto the back of the project as you stitch into the canvas. Cover the end of the strand with the first few stitches to hold the yarn in place. This will prevent your yarn from becoming unraveled as you stitch.
-
5
Continue stitching in your name design with the yarn until you have completed it. If you run out of yarn, just cut another strand and continue. Weave the ends of your strand into the back of the stitches on the backside of your project to secure it when finishing with one color.
-
6
Stitch around the edges of your plastic canvas name design with yarn by rounding the yarn over each hole in the canvas along the edge. Do this until all the edging is completely covered to hide all of the plastic canvas. Weave your end strand into the back of the project into the stitches to hide it.
