How to Light a Char-Griller Smoker
Char-Griller manufactures a line of steel and cast-iron smokers for grilling and barbecuing that slow-cook thick cuts of meat with smoke and low heat. You can use charcoal briquettes or wood chunks in the Char-Griller smoker. Lighting the smoker takes only a few minutes of advance preparation. Things You'll Need
- Charcoal or wood chunks
- Lighter fluid
- Grill lighter or long wooden matches

Raise the lid on the firebox to the right of the main grilling and smoking chamber.

Add 50 or 60 charcoal briquettes or 3 to 4 pounds of wood chunks.

Saturate the fuel with lighter fluid.

Start the fire with a grill lighter or wooden match.

Close the fire box when the coals or wood chunks glow orange with white ash. You are ready to start smoking food in the main cooking chamber on the left.

Tips & Warnings
Use the smoker at least 15 feet away from wood or other combustible materials.
Don't add lighter fluid to a live fire or smoldering coals in an effort to speed up the burning.
