How to Hang a Crib Quilt in a Nursery

If you're lucky enough to receive a handmade crib quilt as a baby shower gift, you may not want to risk actually using it with the baby. Instructions

    • 1

Cut four, 3-inch-long pieces of ribbon.

    • 2

Place the baby quilt on your work table with the front facing down. Move the quilt so the top edge is in front of you.

    • 3

Fold over the top and bottom edges of each piece of ribbon by 1/4 inch. Crease the folds with your fingernails.

    • 4

Pin all four pieces of ribbon to the back of the quilt along the edge closest to you. Place each ribbon vertically, with one end near the quilt edge and the other end closer to the center of the quilt. Space the ribbon pieces out evenly over the length of the quilt edge.

    • 5

Sew each ribbon to the quilt at the top and the bottom. Stitch right on top of the creased seams. This creates four loops through which a curtain rod can pass.

    • 6

Install the drapery rod hardware according to the package directions. Slide the drapery or curtain rod through the four loops in the back of the quilt, then place the rod on the hardware to hang the quilt.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use longer pieces of ribbon if you want to use a thick, decorative drapery rod.
