How to Oil a Squeaky Sliding Screen Door
A sliding screen door is ideal for letting a nice breeze inside your home. Over time, however, the rollers on the door may begin to stick, making the door more difficult to open and close. This, in turn, makes the door squeaky. Oiling a squeaky sliding screen door is a quick fix to the problem. Adding a little lubrication will allow the rollers to slide along the track smoothly and eliminate the noise. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 cup vinegar
- Bucket
- Dish soap
- Rags
- Toothbrush
- Silicone lubricating spray

Mix 1 cup vinegar and 1 gallon warm water into a bucket. Add a few drops of dish soap.

Open the sliding screen door. Wash the top and bottom tracks with a rag and the cleaning mixture. Scrub in the corners and crevices with an old toothbrush.

Dry the tracks with a clean rag to remove any residue.

Spray a generous coating of silicone lubricant onto the top and bottom tracks. Wipe the tracks lightly with a dry cloth.

Close the door, then open and shut it a couple of times to spread around the oil. Apply more oil, if necessary, to lubricate the rollers and tracks thoroughly and stop the squeaking.

If you don’t have any lubricating spray on hand, rub a bar of soap along the track for an alternative way to add lubrication.
