How to Make a Bracelet Out of Rondelles

Bracelets add a finishing touch to any outfit.

Rondelles are small, faceted, circular beads used in jewelry-making for decorative purposes. A rondelle usually has a hole going through its middle to allow for easy threading on wires, strings or elastic, depending on the type of bracelet you wish to make. Rondelles are sometimes used as spacers between other beads, but some rondelles are so decorative that they can be used as stand-alone beads on a bracelet. You will need lots of rondelles if they are the only beads you’ll be using in your bracelet project. Elasticized stretch bracelets are simple to make and most people will be able to make beautiful bracelets using rondelles and stretch cord.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure a length of stretch cord that will be long enough to fit comfortably around your wrist, plus an allowance of an extra inch or two for tying off the bracelet. Seven to 8 inches of stretch cord should fit most persons comfortably.

    • 2

Thread your rondelles on to the stretch cord until all but one inch of the stretch cord has been strung. You may intersperse the rondelles with other beads and spacers for a more intricate bracelet design, or just use rondelles to make the entire bracelet.

    • 3

Bring the two ends of the stretch cord together and adjust the beads down then length of the cord to ensure the free ends of the cord are equal in length.

    • 4

Tie a knot to secure the beads on the bracelet using the two free ends of the cord. Pull the knot tightly closed to ensure that the knot will not come undone during regular wear.

    • 5

Adjust the spacing on the beads, if necessary.

    • 6

Trim the ends of the cord close to the knot using scissors, for a neater appearance.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use a bead stopper on one end of the stretch cord to prevent the rondelles falling off the cord during the stringing process.

  • You may use glue to reinforce the knot, if desired. You will have to wait for the glue to dry before you wear the bracelet.
