How to Make a Flower Arrangement for a Wedding Rehearsal
When planning a flower arrangement for a wedding rehearsal or the rehearsal dinner to follow, the arrangement should reflect the elegance, romance and tone of the wedding itself. However, the arrangement should not be a duplicate of the arrangements that are to be used for the actual wedding. The centerpieces and floral arrangements should be a delightful surprise to the wedding guests when they arrive at the wedding. While the rehearsal arrangements can relate to the wedding centerpieces, they should not give away any surprises from your big day.

1
Review what flowers and colors are prevalent in your wedding flower arrangements.
-
2
Choose a main color for the rehearsal arrangements, using the wedding arrangements as inspiration. For example, if purple is a main color in the wedding arrangements, and pink a subtle complementing color, consider using pink as the centerpiece color for the rehearsal flowers.

3
Select a flower for the bulk of the rehearsal arrangements. Consider the wedding arrangements in making your decision. For example, if long stemmed roses are the focus of the wedding arrangements, consider using spray roses for the rehearsal. If Gerber daisies are prevalent in the wedding arrangements, consider using simpler, white daisies.
-
4
Gather the selected flowers into a vase for the rehearsal. Choose a design that differs from the wedding arrangement vases to further differentiate the two. For example, if the wedding vases are fairly simple, choose a funky and contemporary vase for the rehearsal, or even a vase with a hint of color.
-
5
Accent the arrangement by tying a ribbon around the lip of the glass. Choose a color that complements the arrangement, or a simple white, to signify the upcoming wedding.
-
6
Work a wedding theme into the arrangement with small details that help signify the upcoming festivities, such as by incorporating the old adage, "something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue," into the centerpiece. The flowers count as the "something new," use an antique vase as your "something old," tie a blue ribbon around the glass as "something blue," and pin your grandmother's broach or earrings to the ribbon as your "something borrowed."
-
7
Insert wooden skewers into the arrangement and glue or pin photos of the the bride and groom to the chopsticks for a personal touch, in lieu of the old wedding adage details. Use clothespins to adhere the photos for a vintage touch.
