How to Knit a Bib Blanket
A baby bib blanket makes a useful gift for a friend, or an essential for you, if you have a baby of your own. As the bib is small, like other baby blankets and clothing, the project is quick to knit, giving you the option of making a number of blankets, preventing you or the mother from running out bibs. Knitting with different colors of yarn means each bib can be unique. The basket weave makes an attractive bib that isn't difficult to make for those who have some experience knitting.

3
Purl five to begin row three. Knit three, purl five and repeat. Knit five for row four. Purl three, knit five and repeat. Knit the fifth row.

Start row six by knitting one. Purl three, knit five and repeat, ending by knitting one instead of five. Purl one to begin row seven. Knit three, purl five and repeat, ending with one purl instead of five.
-
5
Knit one to form row eight. Purl three, knit five and repeat, ending by knitting one instead of five.

6
Finish the bib blanket with a garter stitch throughout the next rows. Knit 11 stitches and bind off with 13 stitches. Finish the row with 11 stitches at either end of the bib.
-
7
Knit the next row until you reach three stitches from the end. Knit two together and then knit one. For the next row, knit all the way across. Continue this pattern, alternating between the two rows, until only seven stitches are left and bind off.
-
8
Attach the yarn to the other side of the neck and knit one. Knit two together and then knit to the end. Knit the whole next row. Work the following rows in the same way, alternating between the two rows, until seven stitches remain.
-
9
Use the crochet hook to make a chain measuring about 12 inches. Attach the chain at the inner neck edge of the bib. Slip stitch down the neck edge, across the center bound off edge and up the neck edge.
-
10
Work a second chain, at the same length as the first, for the other side of the bib. Turn around and slipstitch over your work. Fasten off and work in the loose ends.
