Stick small red felt circles closely to achieve the effect of strawberries on a pie.

The easiest way to make felt food without a sewing machine is to use self-adhesive felt fabric. This is available in craft and fabric shops and comes in many colors. It is ideal for working on projects with children as there is no need to use pins or needles. If you plan to make flat things like pancakes or sandwiches use a thin layer of quilt batting in between to provide body. Rounder items can be stuffed with poly fill or cotton wool.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a list of the foods you want to create.

    • 2

Produce a template of each kind of food such as fruits, vegetables or pies by drawing the outline on separate sheets of paper with your pen or pencil. In this example, make a strawberry pie.

    • 3

Measure and draw three circles on three sheets of paper, each one-half inch smaller than the previous.

    • 4

Gather three pieces of felt: beige, red and cream

    • 5

Place the largest circle on the beige, the second largest on the red, and the smallest on the cream

    • 6

Cut out the shapes with a pair of scissors and place the red circle (strawberry filling) on the beige (pie crust) and the cream on the red. Stick them together according to adhesive felt instructions.

    • 7

Draw small red circles on a red piece of felt and cut them out to represent strawberries. Avoid making them too round.

    • 8

Dot the strawberries close together on the cream circle of felt and stick down.
