Whether you are traveling or simply want to store your wedding dress, you want to make sure that it is packed neatly and safe from damage. Putting your wedding dress in a space bag can be done, as long as certain criteria are followed. Although space bags are effective against keeping out dirt and other debris, they also prevent air from circulating through the fabric. Therefore, regular checks are required if you plan on long-term storage for your wedding dress.
Things You'll Need
- Space bag
Place your wedding dress in the space bag. The wedding dress should not reach above the line that says "Fill." You should also make sure that your wedding dress is dry before placing it in the space bag.
Seal the space bag by sliding the "Sure-Zip" slider to one end of the zipper and then back again. This will ensure that your bag is airtight and watertight.
Remove the air from the space bag by vacuuming it out. Take off the cap from the space bag's air valve, then put the vacuum hose in the circular opening.
Turn the vacuum to the "On" position. Slowly remove the air from the space bag until all the air is removed. You can travel with your wedding dress or store it in your closet. During storage, make sure that the temperature is between 65 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. It is recommended that you remove your wedding dress every few months to prevent the fibers in the fabric from rotting.
