How to Decorate a Wedding With Leopard Accents
When it comes to decorating for a wedding, most people don’t go far beyond matching the groom’s cummerbund to the bridesmaid’s dresses. When patterns are put into play, they usually default to the tried and true patterns, such as hounds tooth or gingham. If you are really looking to add some character to a wedding, animal prints are one way to go. Be careful, though, as there is a fine line between interesting accents and tacky design; such is the challenge when decorating a wedding with leopard accents.

Instructions

1
Make bows for the church pews using a solid, light color combined with a thin ribbon of leopard print to add just enough flair without being overwhelming.
-
2
Incorporate leopard print ribbon into the bouquets of the bridesmaids and boutonnieres of the groomsmen. Attire in blacks and browns would fit in nicely with a leopard print theme.
-
-
3
Talk to your cake designer about adding a touch of leopard print around the bases of the cake tiers. Cake decorators are getting more and more creative and may be able to accommodate this request.
-
4
Choose a leopard print cake napkin to place alongside the cake and serve the cake with black utensils.
-
5
Make table centerpieces with floral arrangements that incorporate the leopard print ribbon.
-
6
Decorate the head table with small leopard print ribbon tied around the champagne flutes. The bouquets of the bride and bridesmaids, with their leopard print accents, can also be used as head table decoration.
-
7
Consider draping leopard print fabric in a bunting across the front of the head table. This will tie in nicely with the leopard print ribbons on the head table.
-
8
Add a few leopard print balloons throughout the reception venue alongside balloons of coordinating colors. Balloon weights can be wrapped in leopard print foils.

Tips & Warnings
Use leopard prints sparingly when decorating for the big day.
Decorate with your solid and lighter colors first, adding the leopard prints afterward. This will keep you from going overboard with the leopard prints. Party supply stores have everything you need in a leopard print.
There are many styles of leopard print. For best results, choose one that you like and take a sample with you to match up the prints as closely as possible.
