How to Applique a Celtic Heart
Celtic art features intricate and distinctive knot designs. You can find Celtic designs on a variety of objects, including decorative items, jewelry and textiles. If you want to add Celtic flair to a plain shirt or bag, creating an iron-on applique from Celtic patterned fabric is a fairly simple process. Use a Celtic heart to make something for your sweetheart for Valentine's day, or any time of the year.

1
Iron fusible webbing to the back of the fabric with the Celtic heart design. Follow any specific instructions listed on the webbing packaging. Let the fabric cool before handling.

2
Choose a shape for your applique, and find an appropriate template. Large jar lids work well for circular shapes, or use a ruler and pencil to create a square around your heart design. Trace the template on the paper side of the webbing and cut out the applique.

Peel off the paper and place the applique fabric-side up on the plain garment. Iron it on according to the packaging instructions. When the applique is cool, stitch around the border to secure it in place.
