How to Troubleshoot Novell Buffers
If you are using a Novell network administration package on your server computer and are experiencing network errors when buffering, you can use Wireshark to detect those problems. Wireshark is a security analysis tool that you can use as a packet tracer. Packet tracing detects all the packets that are being utilized on your network at any one time. Wireshark also allows you to specify buffer rings, which means it stays running while the data analysis is performed.

Read through the data to find where your connection error lies; it will show the packet, the application and the Internet Protocol (IP) address involved. This will allow you to identify and troubleshoot your problem.

Tips & Warnings
If the problem exists with a certain IP address, you can start checking what is wrong with that computer's connection -- resetting it initially to see if that improves the connection, checking the load balance on that computer, checking all physical connections on that computer, checking the conflicting software running on that computer and checking whether blocks exist elsewhere on the network to that computer. If it is with a specific packet, and the problem exists over multiple computers using that packet, ensure that there are no packets blocked by your main server computer, ensure that the software that utilizes that packet is up to date and running correctly, check whether any all computers experience the error and if they don't distinguish the difference between the affected computers and the correctly set up ones.
