How to Make a Scroll Pendant
Polymer clay is an ideal material for beginning jewelry makers. Inexpensive, easy to work with and versatile, you can use clay to sculpt beads, cuff bracelets, and pendants. A scroll pendant would be a perfect gift for a recent graduate or a fan of the fantasy Harry Potter world, where scrolls are the main form of written communication.
Things You'll Need

- Metal ruler
- Small eye screw

1
Knead the clay to warm it up and make it easier to handle. Once the clay is pliable, use the rolling pin to roll it out into a sheet about 1/8-inch thick. Use the ruler as a straight edge to cut a 2-by-4-inch rectangle out of the clay with the needle tool.

2
Roll up the clay rectangle to form the rolled base of the scroll. Smooth any rough edges using a fingertip, and gently squeeze the scroll to ensure it stays rolled. Push the eye screw into the center of the scroll and bake according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Allow the scroll to cool completely. Cut a piece of ribbon wide enough to wrap around the scroll and tie it in a bow around the bead. Secure the bow with a drop of superglue and string a chain or cord through the eye screw to complete your pendant.
