Use a picture of a real raccoon as inspiration.

Making a raccoon friendship bracelet poses a creative challenge for any child. Build the bracelet out of household items as a weekend or after school activity. Employ yarn strands that are black and white -- to match the traditional colors of a raccoon. Adding a cardboard cutout of a raccoon to the center of bracelet gives the jewelry extra appeal. Make raccoon bracelets for children interested in wild animals or to match a club name with the word "raccoon" in the title.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the circumference of the child's wrist. Add 4 inches to the initial measurement to ensure the bracelet slides on and off with no hassle. Cut three strands of black and white yarn to the adjusted measurement.

    • 2

Lay the strands of yarn side by side on a table top so the short ends are facing you. Tape 1 inch of the far ends of yarn to the table to prepare the braiding process. Cross the left strand over the center strand. The left strand is now at center. Cross the right strand over the center strand. The right stand is now at center.

    • 3

Braid 1 inch of yarn. Slide a black and white pony bead onto the center strand. Continue braiding for an additional inch. Slide a second pony bead onto the center strand. Braid for a third inch. Slide a final pony bead onto the center strand. Continue braiding until 1 inch of free hanging string remains.

    • 4

Remove the tape from the far end of the bracelet. Tie the 1-inch ends of free hanging string together to complete the bracelet.

    • 5

Draw a 2-by-2-inch raccoon with markers. Cut out the raccoon with scissors. Bond the raccoon to the top of the bracelet at center with permanent epoxy.
