DIY Giant Wreath
Decorate your yard or house for the current season or holiday by crafting a giant wreath. Giant wreaths can be hung on the exterior of a home, barn, shed or fence to add embellishment to these spaces. Consider adding lights to your giant wreath to allow it to be visible even when it becomes dark outside. Make giant wreaths using artificial components that will last year-round. Store your giant wreaths in an attic, garage or shed when not in use.

1
Lay a giant wreath form on a flat surface. Use a hula hoop if you can't find a giant wreath form to purchase. Cut a 12- to 18-inch-long piece of picture-hanging wire using a pair of wire cutters. Bend the wire into a loop. Wrap the ends of the wire loop around the top point on your wreath frame or hula hoop to create a hanger for your wreath.

Choose a foliage garland that fits the occasion for the wreath. Use an evergreen garland for holiday wreaths, ivy or green leaf garlands for spring and summer wreaths and fall-colored leaf garlands for autumn wreaths. Consider using a lighted garland for Christmas wreaths.

Place the end of the garland on the surface of the wreath form. Cut a 6-inch length of floral wire using your wire cutters. Wrap the floral wire around the end of the garland and the wreath base to secure in place. Wrap the garland in spirals around the wreath form or hula hoop, working your way around the circle. Use enough garland to go around the entire wreath two or three times. Wire the end of the garland in the same manner as before.

Cut the stems of large silk flowers and sprays of berries to 3 inches in length. Tuck the stems into the garland. Wrap floral wire around the stems and then around the wreath form. Twist the ends of the wire together to secure the flowers to the wreath. Repeat this process with each flower and berry stem around the wreath.

5
Find the end of a 3-inch wide spool of ribbon. Create a 5-inch loop in the ribbon, 6 inches from the end. Form the ribbon loop with wrong sides together. Make a second 5-inch loop in the opposite direction of the first. Give the ribbon a half twist and make a third loop. Continue to make loops, making a half twist in the ribbon between each loop to keep the right side of the ribbon facing outward. Make a total of six to eight loops.

Wrap a piece of floral wire around the center of the ribbon loops. Twist the wire ends together to secure the wire around the ribbon and hold the loops in place. Pull gently on the ribbon loops to spread them out and form a bow. Wire the bow to the desired point on the wreath.
