How to Decorate 50th Birthday Party Tables

Whether you're hosting a 50th birthday party for yourself or for a loved one, you'll want to make a statement with eye-catching decorations. Decorating the tables of the event adds ambiance and creates a welcoming atmosphere that invites guests to sit and enjoy themselves. Choose a color scheme that appeals to you or the guest of honor and incorporate decorative elements that fit into the theme of the evening to create an elegant table setting for this milestone event.

Instructions

1. Drape a tablecloth on the table that coordinates with the color scheme. For example, if the chosen color is blue, choose a light blue tablecloth. If the color scheme consists of two colors, such as brown and green, choose the more neutral color of the two for the tablecloth; in this case, brown.

2. Set a runner down the center of the table. Choose a runner that complements the color of the tablecloth, or a runner that features another hue of the selected color scheme. In the given examples, use a silver runner on top of a blue tablecloth and a green runner on top of a brown tablecloth.

3. Display a centerpiece on top of the runner. Some options to consider include wooden cut-outs of the number 50, framed pictures of the guest of honor at different stages of her life displayed on different tables or a bouquet of the guest of honor's favorite flowers that coordinates with the color palette.

4. Scatter gold or multicolored confetti shaped like the number 50 around the centerpieces. Place tea lights in glass tea light holders around the centerpieces or one on either side of each centerpiece, along the length of the runner.

5. Set out gold charger plates and top them with simple, yet elegant, white or clear dishes. Another option is to simply set the plates directly on the tablecloth.

6. Drape napkins in decorative napkin rings on top of the plates. If possible, use napkin rings shaped like the number 50, or find ones that reflect a hobby of the guest of honor. Place stemware to the top right of each of the dishes. Set out cutlery next to each plate.
