Add a hanging indent in Word for Mac.

Microsoft has released several versions of the company's Microsoft Office Suite through the years, including a version compatible with Apple's Mac line of computers. The programs, composed of PowerPoint, Excel and Word, among others, have a familiar feel compared with the PC iterations despite a slightly tweaked user interface. For instance, adding hanging indents, where the first line of the paragraph lies against the left margin and the rest of the lines are indented, in Word is a similar process compared with the Windows version. Use Word's formatting features to change your paragraph indentation as desired.

Instructions

    • 1

Highlight the paragraph for which you want to apply a hanging indent.

    • 2

Click "Format" at the top of the screen. A list of options appears.

    • 3

Click "Paragraph." A dialog box opens.

    • 4

Click "Indents and Spacing" at the top of the dialog box.

    • 5

Click the "Special" drop-down menu in the Indentation section of the dialog box.

    • 6

      Select "Hanging."

    • 7

      Click "OK."
