How to Make a Congratulations Party for an Engagement

Celebrate your engagement with a party.

An engagement is not just exciting for a couple; it's a happy time for their family members and friends as well. If you know a couple who recently got engaged, throw them a party to show them how happy you are for them. Wait two to four months to throw the engagement party, so the couple gets used to the idea of getting married.

Instructions

1. Choose a place to have the engagement party. Whether you want to have the party at your house or a restaurant, make sure there will be enough room for the guests you invite.

2. Invite the guests. Know that the guests invited to the engagement party should also be invited to the wedding. Send invitations out at least a few weeks in advance, so everyone has time to clear their schedules.

3. Decide what kind of food you want to serve at the party. If you're throwing the party at your house, ask the guests to bring a dish. If you're having the party at a banquet hall, hire a caterer to take care of the food.

4. Play music at the party to keep the guests entertained. Choose music that is soft, rather than loud. For example, you can hire a pianist to play a piano in your living room while everyone talks and gets to know one another.

5. Decorate the party with balloons, confetti and streamers. Hang up a large banner that says "Happy Engagement." Add flower centerpieces and pictures of the happy couple to set the mood of the party.
