Make a cool paper plane with a propeller.

Paper airplanes are popular with adults as much as kids. It's the closet you can get to piloting a plane without schooling or a license, but still requires a little skill to be done right. These crafts are typically simple constructs, which the average person can do with ease. However, making a plane which actually flies with a propeller is a more challenging task. With some attention to detail and a couple of common items, you can make an impressive propeller paper plane.

Things You'll Need

  • Sheet of paper
  • Toothpick
  • Glue
  • Plastic toy airplane propeller

Instructions

    • 1

Lay your sheet of paper horizontally on a hard surface, so the long side faces you.

    • 2

Fold the upper left and right corners to meet at the middle of the page forming a triangle; crease the edges.

    • 3

Fold the triangular tip to meet the bottom edge of the triangle; crease the edge. This creates three smaller triangles; two pointing up and one pointing down with the lower half of the page untouched thus far.

    • 4

Fold the outer left and right edges inward approximately 1/2-inch, and crease the edges. The sheet takes the shape of the letter "A."

    • 5

Fold the left side of the model over to the right. Line up the outer edges which are the wings. Crease the fold line making the center of the plane.

    • 6

Fold each side wing down to 1-inch from the center line, or base, of the plane.

    • 7

Fold the tip of each wing up half an inch. The wings are "V" shaped as you look at the model from the front.

    • 8

Apply glue to a toothpick, and insert the majority of it into the front end at the base. Squeeze the paper to the toothpick allowing a few minutes for the glue to dry.

    • 9

Slide the spinner onto the toothpick.

    • 10

Pour a small amount of glue on a washable or throwaway surface.

    • 11

Allow the glue to thicken from drying. Carefully dip the tip of the toothpick, with spinner in place, into the glue forming a small bead at the point preventing the spinner from sliding off.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be careful with the glue, or you could make a mess of things.
