How to Make a Jewelry Locket
During the Victorian era, it was fashionable for lockets to hang from bracelets, brooches and necklaces. Today, lockets are still perfect gifts for anniversaries and birthdays. More than jewelry, they are symbols of love. Extremely intimate, these items on necklaces hang close to your heart. Wear a locket and peek inside at the photograph every now and then to reminisce about an important time in your life. Create your own locket with unusual objects to make it original.

1
Select a door hinge from the hardware store. Pick a square or rectangle shaped hinge that is light enough to wear on a chain.
-
2
Draw a design on felt fabric to place on the front of the locket. For example, draw a heart on red felt or use white and yellow felt fabric to make the petals of a daisy. Cut out the design and glue pieces onto the front of the hinge. Wait for it to dry.

3
Open the door hinge and lay it flat on a table.
-
4
Measure with a ruler the hinge and the two photographs you want to put in the locket. Mark where to cut on the pictures with a pencil. Cut out pictures and place on the inside of the hinge. Adjust the size of the pictures if needed.
-
5
Glue the back of each picture and place them on the inside of the hinge. Wait for them to dry.
-
6
String a necklace through the holes of the hinge.
-
7
Fold the hinge so the photographs are inside and place the locket around your neck.
