It only takes a few months of exposure to a cigarette smoker for everything in the house to smell like smoke -- including the mattress in your master bedroom. While the smell of cigarette smoke is difficult to remove, it is possible. With a little patience and some moderately hard work, over several days the scent can be removed entirely.   • Odor-neutralizing spray
  • Baking soda
  • Vacuum

Instructions

      Remove the sheets and pillows from the bed. Drag the mattress outside on a warm, sunny day and place in full sunlight.

      Spray a thin layer of an odor-neutralizer onto the mattress. Leave the mattress in the sun for eight hours so that it can dry.

      Drag the mattress back indoors and sprinkle it with a 1/4-inch layer of powdered baking soda. Let it sit overnight.

      Vacuum the baking soda off the mattress.

      Flip the mattress over and repeat steps one through four until the cigarette smell is gone.
