Holes in wood tables can upset a glass or give the table an unfinished look. However, they are also easily repaired. Patch a wood table with the proper filler and it will look as good as new. These fillers don't cover just the surface of the wood; they are worked right into the hole so the hole is reinforced and the untrained eye can't tell a hole ever existed. Treat the table as usual with stain or paint to get a smooth, consistent surface.
Things You'll Need
- Wood filler
- Putty knife
Scoop out some wood filler onto a small, metal putty knife.
Push the wood filler into the table hole to fill it.
Smooth the filler surface, using the flat of the putty knife. Allow the wood filler to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Sand the surface of the wood filler to get a smooth finish using 100-grit sandpaper. Work with the wood's grain. Apply paint or stain as planned.
