How to Locate a Burnt Out Bulb on a Pre-Lit Tree
With so much to do at Christmastime -- buying gifts, baking treats, mailing cards, accommodating overnight guests -- buying a tree and stringing lights onto it might seem like too much to ask. A pre-lit Christmas tree is a lifesaving solution to the harried holiday decorator. Pre-lit trees are made of synthetic material and arrive with lights attached. They come in sizes as tall as 16 feet in a range of colors and finishes. Even on pre-lit trees, however, individual bulbs can burn out. Finding them is a cinch. Does this Spark an idea?

Plug in the tree lights. If there is a power switch on the tree, put it in the "on" position.

Survey the lights on the tree. Look at the tree from top to bottom to spot a bulb that does not light.

Rotate the tree or walk all the way around it, while examining the lights from top to bottom to find any bulb that is not lighted.

Remove the burnt-out bulb and replace it, if possible. Some pre-lit tree models do not allow for bulb replacement.
