How to Create a Christmas Village Cardboard Box
Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a full display Christmas village, you can use crafts and an old cardboard box to make one of your own. The box will allow you to set up the Christmas village anywhere in your home and move it as needed. The flaps of the box extend out to provide extra room to build the village and set up all the elements you want. After the holiday is over, simply fold the box up and save again for the next year. Does this Spark an idea?

-
2
Lay out old newspaper on the ground. Place the box on the old newspaper and then spraypaint the box white. Let the first layer dry, and then add an additional layer.

-
3
Use green paint and a paintbrush to paint trees on the inside backdrop of the box. Paint large evergreen trees and scatter them in various positions and sizes to give the illusion of depth.
-
4
Glue a collection of cotton balls in the back corners to create mounds of snow. Press down on each cotton ball for five seconds when you place it so it remains secure.
-
5
Set up the houses inside the village. Position them evenly. For a permanent display, use a small amount of glue on the bottom of a house and press it into the cardboard.
-
6
Set up sidewalks and accessories on the front flap of the village. Use double-sided tape to secure them to the flap. Only use a limited amount of accessories so the small village is not over-crowded.
-
7
Poke Christmas lights through the top of the box so they hang over the village. Continue around the side until the whole village is lit up. Set up the box and plug the lights in to display your Christmas village.
